Cover Art Revealed (4)

I've been collecting these for about a month now, so we have lots of covers to see today!

Courtney Summers revealed the cover for her new novel This is Not a Test! Check it out:

Coming June 19, 2012!

It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self. To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up.

As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live. But as the days crawl by, everyone’s motivations to survive begin to change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life–and death–inside.

When everything is gone, what do you hold on to?

I loooove the blood spatter in the corner! I also love how her hair is falling over her face. There's something kind of disturbing about her identity being erased like that -- perfect for the themes of the novel.

Lisa Desrochers also revealed the cover for the final book in her Personal Demons trilogy, Last Rite. Check it out:

Coming May 8, 2012!

What happens when you can't outrun Hell—or trust the ones you love?

I think this cover is gorgeous. I love how it's divided down the middle, light and dark, heaven and hell, angel versus demon. Brilliant!

Maria V. Snyder revealed the US and UK covers for Touch of Power, the first book in her new Healer series.

Coming December 20, 2011!

US cover is on the left, UK on the right
Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan assumes their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Territories, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.

Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life....

I think the UK cover might be my favorite. It's just so much more dark and mysterious!

Kristin Cashore revealed the cover for Bitterblue, book 3 in her Seven Kingdoms series.

Coming May 1, 2012!

Bitterblue is a companion book to both Graceling and Fire and takes place in the seven kingdoms eight years after Graceling. This third book will tie all three books together in some way. Bitterblue is the sixteen-year-old protagonist, and Katsa, Po, Giddon, Helda, and other characters from Graceling will be part of the fabric of the book.

I am intrigued. What are these keys?!? I love this series SO MUCH, you guys.

Kendare Blake revealed the cover for Girl of Nightmares, sequel to her highly acclaimed debut Anna Dressed in Blood.

Coming August 2012!

In this follow-up to Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas begins seeing Anna everywhere: sometimes when he’s asleep, and sometimes in waking nightmares. But something is very wrong. These aren’t just daydreams. Anna seems tortured, torn apart in new and ever more gruesome ways every time she appears.

Cas doesn’t know what happened to Anna when she disappeared into Hell, but he knows she doesn’t deserve whatever is happening to her now. Anna saved Cas more than once, and it’s time for him to return the favor.

I love the bloodred color. It's so fitting for this series. I also love how she's holding out her hand beseechingly -- it fits the OMGWTF synopsis. Poor Anna! I can't wait to see what happens in this one! It sounds ever better than the first book!

You may have seen the cover for New Girl by Paige Harbison in my WoW this week, but it deserves another look:

Coming January 31, 2012!

I hadn't wanted to go, but my parents were so excited…. So here I am, the new girl at Manderley, a true fish out of water. But mine's not the name on everyone's lips. Oh, no.

It's Becca Normandy they can't stop talking about. Perfect, beautiful Becca. She went missing at the end of last year, leaving a spot open at Manderley-the spot that I got. And everyone acts like it's my fault that infallible, beloved Becca is gone and has been replaced by not perfect, completely fallible, unknown Me.

Then, there's the name on my lips-Max Holloway. Becca's ex. The one boy I should avoid, but can't. Thing is, it seems like he wants me, too. But the memory of Becca is always between us. And as much I'm starting to like it at Manderley, I can't help but think she's out there, somewhere, watching me take her place.

Waiting to take it back.

I loooove water covers. There's something so haunting about them. And this cover is even better if you've read Rebecca. *nudge nudge*

Myra McEntire revealed the title and cover for the sequel to her timeslip debut Hourglass: Timepiece!

Coming June 12, 2012!

No description yet, but THIS SERIES HAS THE BEST COVERS, Y'ALL.

Elana Johnson revealed the cover for Surrender, companion novel to her dystopian debut Possession on her Facebook page!

Coming June 5, 2012!

Forbidden love, intoxicating power, and the terror of control…

Raine has always been a good girl. She lives by the rules in Freedom. After all, they are her father’s rules: He’s the Director. It’s because of him that Raine is willing to use her talent—a power so dangerous, no one else is allowed to know about it. Not even her roommate, Vi.

All of that changes when Raine falls for Gunner. Raine’s got every reason in the world to stay away from Gunn, but she just can’t. Especially when she discovers his connection to Vi’s boyfriend, Zenn. Raine has never known anyone as heavily brainwashed as Vi. Raine’s father expects her to spy on Vi and report back to him. But Raine is beginning to wonder what Vi knows that her father is so anxious to keep hidden, and what might happen if she helps Vi remember it. She’s even starting to suspect Vi’s secrets might involve Freedom’s newest prisoner, the rebel Jag Barque....

The image of the hummingbird trapped in that glass cage is so poignant and perfect for the world Elana has built. And OMG THANK GOD THERE WILL BE MORE OF VI'S STORY. The ending of Possession KILLED ME DEAD.

Amy Plum revealed the UK cover of Until I Die (Revenants #2):

Coming May 8, 2012!

Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.

As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.

In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.

This series has gorgeous covers too. I think this one fits the darkness and the mystery and the romance better than the frilly pick cover of the first book, but maybe that's just because I don't like pink :)

Cynthia Hand revealed the US and UK covers for Hallowed (Unearthly #2)!

Coming January 17, 2012!

US on left, UK on right
For months part-angel Clara Gardner trained to face the raging forest fire from her visions and rescue the alluring and mysterious Christian Prescott from the blaze. But nothing could prepare her for the fateful decisions she would be forced to make that day, or the startling revelation that her purpose—the task she was put on earth to accomplish—is not as straightforward as she thought. Now, torn between her increasingly complicated feelings for Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker, Clara struggles to make sense of what she was supposed to do the day of the fire. And, as she is drawn further into the world of part angels and the growing conflict between White Wings and Black Wings, Clara learns of the terrifying new reality that she must face: Someone close to her will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

Described by Richelle Mead as “utterly captivating,” Unearthly received outstanding reviews, garnered accolades from New York Times bestselling authors, and was named an Indie Next Pick. In this heart-wrenching sequel, Cynthia Hand expertly captures the all-consuming joy of first love—and the agony of loss. This beautifully woven tale will appeal to fans of Lauren Kate, Becca Fitzpatrick, and Aprilynne Pike.

Don't get me wrong, the US cover is gorgeous but OMG THAT IS CHRISTIAN on the UK cover! Here's hoping Tucker will be on the cover of book 3!

Kiersten White revealed the cover for Endlessly, the last book in her bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy!

Coming July 24, 2012!

The final chapter of Evie's adventures. Old friends, new ones, all wrapped up in impossible decisions. And some ball gowns. Because what's a life of normal and paranormal drama without a ball gown or two?

Another series with gorgeous covers. My favorite part of this one is how Evie looks like she might be on the verge of finally cracking a smile :)

Kiera Cass revealed the cover for The Selection, her upcoming dystopian debut!

April 24, 2012!

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

I met Kiera at BEA and have been DYING for this book ever since! It sounds AMAZING! And that cover O_O I think my eyes fell out of my head when I saw it. It is STUNNING.

Susane Colasanti revealed the cover for her sixth YA novel, Keep Holding On:

Coming June 14, 2012!

Between Noelle’s difficult home life and the bullying she endures at school, all she wants is to get out of her small town. Noelle would give anything to be with Julian Porter. But staying with her emotionally distant boyfriend is safer. When things heat up between Noelle and Julian, she has to decide whether she can be her true self with him.

I love how covers are so careful to not reveal faces full-on, so that it's left up to the reader's imagination :)

Sarah Ockler revealed the new title and cover of her upcoming novel Bittersweet!

Coming January 3, 2012!

Once upon a time, Hudson knew exactly what her future looked like. Then a betrayal changed her life, and knocked her dreams to the ground. Now she’s a girl who doesn’t believe in second chances... a girl who stays under the radar by baking cupcakes at her mom’s diner and obsessing over what might have been.

So when things start looking up and she has another shot at her dreams, Hudson is equal parts hopeful and terrified. Of course, this is also the moment a cute, sweet guy walks into her life...and starts serving up some seriously mixed signals. She’s got a lot on her plate, and for a girl who’s been burned before, risking it all is easier said than done.

It’s time for Hudson to ask herself what she really wants, and how much she’s willing to sacrifice to get it. Because in a place where opportunities are fleeting, she knows this chance may very well be her last....

(Note: This book was formerly titled THE LANGUAGE OF IMPOSSIBLE DREAMS)

I really need to read some of Sarah Ockler's books. I've heard they're all amazing, and they've been subjected to a lot of attempted book-banning.

Lauren Kate revealed the cover art for both Fallen in Love, a collection of Fallen love stories, and Rapture (Fallen #4)!

Coming January 24, 2012 and June 12, 2012!

The sky is dark with wings. . . .

In RAPTURE, the highly anticipated fourth and final novel in the FALLEN series, Luce and Daniel are together . . . but for how long? Can history be rewritten? Or are some punishments eternal?

I like how she's wearing white on the Rapture cover. On the first 3 books, her dresses were always very dark. I wonder if that's symbolic? Hmmm

Josephine Angelini revealed the cover for Dreamless, the sequel to her debut novel Starcrossed.

Coming May 29, 2012!

As the only Scion that can enter Hades at will, Helen descends to the Underworld in search of a way to overcome the Furies and end the cycle of revenge that has cursed the Scions. But she’s running out of time. Each descent weakens her both in mind and spirit. A mysterious stranger might be her only salvation, but the price may be her love for Lucas Delos.

As an unforgettable love triangle emerges, Josephine Angelini’s compelling saga becomes ever more intricate and spellbinding. The eagerly awaited sequel to the internationally bestselling Starcrossed, Dreamless delivers with a huge emotional impact that will leave readers satisfied—and longing for more.

This is a beautiful cover. I'm intrigued by the unusual color of the sky -- it's kind of ominous!

Nova Ren Suma revealed the new cover for the paperback release of Imaginary Girls!

Coming June 14, 2012!

Chloe's older sister, Ruby, is the girl everyone looks to and longs for, who can't be captured or caged. When a night with Ruby's friends goes horribly wrong and Chloe discovers the dead body of her classmate London Hayes left floating in the reservoir, Chloe is sent away from town and away from Ruby.

But Ruby will do anything to get her sister back, and when Chloe returns to town two years later, deadly surprises await. As Chloe flirts with the truth that Ruby has hidden deeply away, the fragile line between life and death is redrawn by the complex bonds of sisterhood.

With palpable drama and delicious craft, Nova Ren Suma bursts onto the YA scene with the story that everyone will be talking about.

The original cover was gorgeous, but I think this one matches the dark and eerie tone of the novel. It's so striking! And that girl's eyes O_O

Elissa J. Hoole revealed the cover for her debut novel Kiss the Morning Star!

Coming April 28, 2012!

The summer after high-school graduation, a year after her mother’s tragic death, Anna has no plans – beyond her need to put a lot of miles between herself and the past. With forever friend Kat, a battered copy of Kerouac’s DHARMA BUMS, and a car with a dodgy oil filter, the girls set out on an epic road trip across the USA. Maybe somewhere along the way they’ll prove or disprove the existence of God. Maybe they’ll even get laid . . .

It’s a journey both outward and inward. Through the Badlands and encounters with predatory men and buffalo. A crazy bus ride to Mexico with a bunch of hymn-singing missionaries. Facing death, naked in the forest with an enraged grizzly bear . . . Gradually, Anna realizes that this is a voyage of discovery into her own self, her own silent pain – and into the tangled history that she and Kat share. What is love? What is sexual identity? And how do you find a way forward into a new future – a way to declare openly and without fear all that lies within you?

This is such a wild and free cover -- perfect for a road trip novel!

Jeri Smith-Ready revealed the cover for Shine, as well as the new covers for the first two books in her Shade series over at Fictitious Delicious!

Coming May 1, 2012!

No other love has burned so bright

Life can change in an instant, and no one understands that better than Aura. It’s been almost a year since her boyfriend tragically died. She’s finally letting go of Logan’s violet-hued ghost, but not her search to uncover the truth about her past.As the first in a generation that can see ghosts, Aura is convinced that she has a connection to the Shift. She’s trusted Zachary, ever patient and ever by her side, with all that she knows. But when the government threatens his life in an attempt to learn Aura’s secrets, she will stop at nothing to protect herself and the one she loves...even if that means betraying her own heart.

I have to say, I think I prefer the original covers. They were more mysterious. For some reason I don't like pictures of real people -- at least on the covers of paranormal novels. I think it works better for contemporary. I also think it's really unfair when publishers do this in the middle of a series, so people will have to buy new copies if they want their books to match.

Wendy Higgins revealed the cover for her debut novel Sweet Evil:

Coming May 1, 2012!

What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences? This is life for sons and daughters of fallen angels in Sweet Evil.

Anna, a tender-hearted southern girl, was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage, and her will-power is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

A cross-country trip forces Anna and Kai to face the reality that hope and love are not options for their kind. When it's time for Anna to confront her demons, will she choose to embrace her halo or her horns?

I'm really looking forward to this book -- I love good vs evil stories. And like Wendy said in her reveal post, I love the contrast between light and dark on this cover -- but Anna isn't quite "light" is she? She's RED, which is a verrrrrry intriguing color choice, considering the synopsis *wink wink*

The cover of Arise (Hereafter #2) by Tara Hudson has also been floating around the web.

Coming June 5, 2012!

Amelia—still caught between life and death—must fight for every moment of her relationship with the human boy Joshua. They can hardly even kiss without Amelia accidentally dematerializing. Looking for answers, they go to visit some of Joshua’s Seer relatives in New Orleans. But even in a city so famously steeped in the supernatural, Amelia ends up with more questions than answers…and becomes increasingly convinced that she and Joshua can never have a future together.

Wandering through the French Quarter, Amelia meets other in-between ghosts, and begins to seriously consider joining them. And then she meets Gabrielle. Somehow, against impossible odds, Gaby has found a way to live a sort of half-life...a half-life for which Amelia would pay any price.

Torn between two worlds, Amelia must choose carefully, before the evil spirits of the netherworld choose for her.

This cover is amazing! I thought the first book's was good, but this is just stunning. The creepy graves in the background! The overlay of another world! And WHAT is she holding in her hand?

So there you go! LOTS of covers! Which one is your favorite? I can't choose!! Are you also exasperated by publishers changing covers mid-series?

Omigosh this is an epic cover post, I don't even know where to begin!!

Freaking out over Bitterblue. The cover is lovely and I am dyinggggg for this book - finally!!

Ahh Girl of Nightmares, so freaky. I bet it will be gooddddd.

Timepiece = amazinggggg. (haha man, can you tell I stretch out my letters when I'm excited)

Surrender = GORGEOUS. I was not a fan of possession at all, but that cover was so cool and the hummingbird?! Oh man, amazing.

Endlessly is totally my fave cover of the trilogy. And yes, love her expression!

Loveee the Bittersweet cover and descrption. 'Twenty Boy Summer' was AMAZING, you should totally check it out.

Totally agree re: the Shine cover. I am not the biggest fan. The yellow is just kind of startling. Thankfully I am not manic about books matching, but it still kind of upsets me that my Shade and Shift covers won't look the same as Shine. Well, either way I am SO excited for the book itself.

Well. Here is an epic long comment for you to match the epic beauty of this cover post. ;)

A retelling of Rebecca! YES, please. I've read the original several times and it's always fabulously creeptastic. Also, several other I'm excited about, especially Timepiece.

These are all great covers. I love Bitterblue and Endlessly. If I Die is also fabulous! I'm going to read The Selection based on cover alone. I have to ask though, where is Meg Cabot's Underworld? I haven't seen it on any of the blogs and it's awesome! Check it out:

Awesome, right? Anyway, great post! I'm such a cover whore and I love it when someone does all the work to put it all in one place for me to ogle! Thanks!

Too much pretty!!

I NEED Bitterblue like NOW! I can't wait for it.

Anyway, I love almost all of these. Endlessly is gorgeous and may be my favorite in that series. I want to live in The Selection cover. It is incredible!

I'm not a fan of the new Shade cover either. I just don't like that the color of Shine is...just yuck.

I just finished TOUCH OF POWER - definitely worth your time if you're in the mood for a rock-your-socks-off adventure with oodles of magic and unbelievably loveable characters. ;) I'd go for the UK cover, which portrays Avry the main character the most accurately.

If I mentioned all these covers I'd be here a while. Let's just say I'm super excited about them all, because hey, it's the truth!
