Cover Art Revealed: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Early this morning, MTV Hollywood Crush revealed the cover for Tahereh Mafi's highly anticipated dystopian debut, Shatter Me. Check it out:

Coming November 15, 2011

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old-girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting asThe Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

I am in love with this cover. They really took the "shatter" thing as far as it would go: It looks like something has been blown to smithereens behind her, and I love how the title is slashed in half. I think my favorite aspect, though, is the look on the model's face. She's like "BRING. IT. ON." Tahereh Mafi told MTV, "The Juliette on the cover looks imposing and kind of fierce in the best way possible; she's channeling her immense physical power as well as her inner strength, and she's ready to fight back for the first time in her life."

I am so excited for this book! It sounds amazing -- a mix of dystopian, paranormal and superhero? Time to move it up my TBR pile!

What do you think of the cover? Aren't the special effects awesome? Head over to MTV to see how they did it.

Oh, I definitely love the background and what they did with the title! They really went far with the whole "shattering" concept. :) Not a big fan of the dress, though...maybe I'm just tired of girls in dresses on covers. *shrug*

Gorgeous cover! I've heard good things about this book but I'll have to check it out for myself. :-)

We love us some pretty covers ;)

Lauren -- You're right though, the dress thing is a bit overdone. It kind of looks like a wedding dress lol.

Gorgeous and striking! Not sure what a girl in a pretty dress has to do with 264 days of solitary confinement but I'm looking forward to finding out!

It's definitely catchy, but if I didn't know it was a dystopian novel, I probably wouldn't guess that genre just by looking at it. It looks more like a teen romance - gives me the impression of a Cinderella story for some reason, but that could just be the dress. ;)
