Daisy Chain Book Reviews recently revealed the UK cover for Cynthia Hand's stellar debut, Unearthly. It will be released in the UK on May 2, 2011. Check it out:
Here's the US cover for comparison:
There are quite a few Unearthly covers out there, but several people mentioned the Australian one, so I thought I'd add it for comparison:
I thought I loved the US cover, but the UK one blows it out of the water. I LOVE the new cover. I've just been staring at it in awe. Isn't it striking? There's just something so ethereal about all the white on blue. The girl appears to be in black and white, doesn't she? It's so subtle you hardly notice it, but I think that's what makes the whole cover just POP. She looks like she's from another world -- very "unearthly" (sorry, I couldn't help myself). I may order another copy of the novel just so I can have this awesomeness sitting on my shelf. I'm not as big a fan of the Australian cover, though. It's pretty, but it doesn't have the monotone overlay like the others and "girl in a pretty dress" has been kind of overplayed. Also, her pose is kind of awkward with her arm pulled back like that, and I don't really understand why she's wearing a ball gown to face the forest fire? I would expect some kind of Gothic or Victorian London story from this cover.
In other news, the Unearthly ebook will be released on April 19th!
