Cover Art Revealed: In the Forests of the Night (Goblin Wars #2) by Kersten Hamilton

The cover art for In the Forests of the Night, the sequel to Kersten Hamilton's stellar YA debut Tyger Tyger, was recently revealed:

Coming October 3, 2011!

Teagan, Finn, and Aiden have made it out of Mag Mell alive, but the Dark Man's forces are hot on their heels. Back in Chicago, Tea’s goblin cousins show up at her school, sure she will come back to Mag Mell, as goblin blood is never passive once awoken. Soon she will belong to Fear Doirich and join them. In the meantime, they are happy to entertain themselves by trying to seduce, kidnap, or kill Tea’s family and friends.

Teagan knows she doesn’t have much time left, and she refuses to leave Finn or her family to be tortured and killed. A wild Stormrider, born to rule and reign, is growing stronger inside her. But as long as she can hold on, she’s still Teagan Wylltson, who plans to be a veterinarian and who heals the sick and hurting. The disease that’s destroying her—that’s destroying them all—has a name: Fear Doirich.

And Teagan Wylltson is not going to let him win.

I am SO excited for this book! I adored Tyger Tyger and its cover, and I think this one is even more spectacular and magical than the first. This cover looks like a cross between the ocean and the starry universe, and is just breathtaking. Plus, those eyes! This isn't a werewolf book, so I can only guess at what the yellow eyes might mean. Do goblins have yellow eyes? Do Stormriders? What is a Stormrider? It sounds fierce.

What do you think? Isn't it beautiful?

Here's the first cover for comparison:

I do ABSOLUTELY love this new cover! I just ordered Tyger Tyger to have on the shelf to show off to everyone, and I will add this one as well when it comes out. And I'm going to give my son Tyger Tyger to read for his AR reading in school. I think he will love it. :)
